Principal Investigator
Dr. Dai is an Associate Member of VIC. His current research is focused on
developing light-based technologies for preventing and treating infectious
diseases. Particularly, he is considered a world leader who is responsible for
launching the new research area of antimicrobial blue light therapy for
multidrug-resistant infections.
Fatma Dogan, PHD
Principal Investigator
Dr. Fatma Dogan is a Research Fellow at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School. She earned a Master`s degree in Medical Biology and Genetics at Ege University, Turkey, and a PhD in Molecular Genetics at Keele University, England. Dr. Dogan is a trained geneticist whose research interests currently focus on autoimmune diseases.
Jeffrey A. Gelfand, M.D.
Principal Investigator
Dr. Gelfand is a Physician in the Infectious Diseases Division at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) and Professor of Medicine, Part Time at Harvard Medical School. He is a Senior Scientist in the MGH Vaccine and Immunotherapy Center.
Yohannes Gemechu, Ph.D.
Principal Investigator
Dr. Yohannes Gemechu Hailu is a postdoctoral fellow at Vaccine and Immunotherapy Center, MGH and Harvard Medical School. Dr. Yohannes was trained as a Medical Biochemist and Immunologist. Currently, Dr. Yohannes along with the teams of scientists at VIC is developing a therapeutic and prophylactic vaccines for infectious disease and infectious pathogen induced cancers.
Shibani S. Mukerji, M.D., Ph.D
Principal Investigator
Dr. Mukerji is a board-certified neurologist, Associate Director of the Mass General Hospital Neuro-infectious Diseases Unit, and Assistant Professor in Neurology at Harvard Medical School. She is an MD and PhD graduate of Case Western Reserve School of Medicine.
Mark C. Poznansky, MD, PhD
Principal Investigator
Dr. Poznansky is a physician scientist and medical innovator whose work bridges academic discovery and clinical care. As a leader in the field of leukocyte migration and the modulation of leukocyte trafficking and function, he has linked discovery with the development of new vaccines and immunotherapies for cancer, pandemic viruses and immune mediated diseases including type 1 diabetes and ALS.
Patrick Reeves, PhD
Principal Investigator
Dr. Patrick Reeves is a Principal Investigator in the Vaccine and Immunotherapy Center, Instructor in Investigation at Massachusetts General Hospital, and Instructor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Reeves’ investigations into immune modulating therapies and vaccine development is informed by his training immunology, microbiology, and cell biology.
Ruxandra F. Sîrbulescu, PhD

Dr. Ruxandra Sîrbulescu is a Principal Investigator in the Vaccine and Immunotherapy Center, Instructor in Investigation at Massachusetts General Hospital, and Assistant Professor in Neurology at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Sîrbulescu is a trained neurobiologist whose research interests focus on regenerative medicine.
