I handle operational management and financial issues for the Vaccine and Immunotherapy and am actively involved in planning the development pathways for new technologies, which includes consideration of medical applications and market exits, potential scientific collaborators and transition partners, definition of the target product profile, critical development paths, assessment of development risks, and understanding of regulatory and manufacturing requirements. I oversee the periodic evaluation of all the Center’s development candidates that involves a re-consideration of all these elements. I am also actively managing several of the development programs including immunomodulatory islet encapsulation and the laser-based vaccine adjuvant.
